This page is a series of self notes and posts I made on my experience of 3dsmax, starting as a complete beginner and trying to figure out how the tools in that software could meet my needs. I’m putting it there to possibly help others get a better sense of what could be the actual use of 3dsmax for an architect.

What I use 3dsmax for

  • Not for drawing simple architecture
  • 3d renders of quality with Vray
  • Modeling complexe shapes using Edit Poly

I’ve been using this software for a while now, mostly to get the best renders I could from my student project models. However, it turns out I sucked at it, big time.

A lot of its fundamentals completely flew over my head from the beginning and everything special about what 3dsmax could do I found out afterwards (and still am).

On this page I’ll try to keep in check the things I learned along the way.
